Krakow has activated water curtains for hot weather after forecasts pointed to temperatures above 30 degrees C. The city says the installations run when the air temperature is above 27 degrees C and the day is dry and sunny.
What to know
The current locations are Main Market Square, Mały Rynek, Podgórski Market Square and Aleja Róż. Operating hours are listed as 10:00-19:00, which makes them useful for midday errands, tourist walks and family routes through the centre, but not a substitute for shade, rest and regular hydration.
The heat response is also tied to public water access. Krakow points residents and visitors to city drinking fountains and to venues participating in the tap-water campaign. For people moving around town with reusable bottles, the practical step is to search maps for city drinking points before leaving, not after the hottest part of the walk has started.
