Krakow’s Main Square became a competitive arena again as the World Climbing Series returned for its second local edition. The city described this year’s event as larger than 2025, with a four-lane wall, mixed relays and a higher prize pool.

What to know

The strongest local angle is not only sport but placemaking. A temporary wall in the middle of one of Europe’s most recognisable historic squares creates a highly visible test of how Krakow can host global events without moving them away from the city’s public core.

The event also carried a personal marker for Polish fans: Aleksandra Miroslaw made what the city described as her final World Cup start in Poland. For Krakow, the weekend strengthens a useful summer identity: heritage setting, televised sport and a public audience in one frame.
