Grzegorzecka renovation: what Krakow travellers need to know

Krakow will begin a major summer renovation of Grzegorzecka Street on Saturday, 4 July. The city says the work is planned for six weeks, with completion targeted for 15 August. The corridor links the Old Town and Kazimierz with Hala Targowa and Rondo Grzegorzeckie, so the disruption will affect more than one neighbourhood.

What to know

The first stage closes Grzegorzecka to general traffic in both directions between Aleja Daszynskiego and Rzeznicza Street. Municipal buses will use Aleja Daszynskiego, while works around the Dietla-Wielopole junction will also close the turning facility and the left turn from Dietla into Wielopole. Later stages will restore some movements before the full layout returns.

Passengers, drivers and cyclists should treat the published plan as a starting point and check live timetables and temporary signs before each trip. The works have been coordinated with other summer projects, but several simultaneous changes around central Krakow mean a familiar route may take longer even when it remains technically open.
